Iberia (Iberia Airlines) je největší španělskou leteckou společností založenou v roce 1927. Jenom za rok 2005 využilo jejích služeb přes 32 milionů cestujících při cestách do více než stovky destinací v Evropě, Africe, Asii i Americe. Praha mezi těmito destinacemi, bohužel, chybí.
Iberia Airlines disponuje flotilou 230 letadel. Již v roce 2008 by se mělo jednat pouze o stroje Airbus.
Společnost je součástí letecké aliance OneWorld. Domovským letištěm aerolinií Iberia je Barajas Int’l Airport (Madrid).
Iberia is an international air transport group that has been in the business since 1927. The transport of passengers and freight is our main business, but not the only one. Iberia also conducts aircraft maintenance of our own fleet and those of nearly 50 other companies, including some leading European airlines. Iberia is also active in aircraft and passenger handling services in all Spanish airports, where it serves more than 250 carriers.
Since Iberia commenced scheduled flights in 1927, more than 600 million people have flown with us, making Iberia not only Spain’s leading airline but also market leader on routes between Europe and Latin America. Iberia is also the only airline in Europe to report profits for each of the last ten years. The airline is also distinguished by social responsibility, ranking among Spain’s three top firms in a survey conducted by the Empresa y Sociedad Foundation, and first in employee cooperation programmes.
In 2002, a year after going public, Iberia was included in Spain’s Ibex 35 stock market index.
Iberia is a founding member of oneworld, one of the world’s largest airline alliances, which gives Iberia customers convenient access to 600 destinations with the best connections.
Nowadays, Iberia serves around a hundred destinations, while reaching more than 80 additional ones through code-sharing arrangements with other airlines. This places Iberia in the front rank of European airlines, with 32.4 million passengers carried in 2005 and a net profit of 395.8 million euros.
